Summary of parish council responses

Henley-on-Thames Town Council support the transfer of properties within Swiss Farm Park Homes, currently in Bix and Assendon parish, to Henley-on-Thames parish. The town council also proposes that the boundary is further extended to include the Swiss Farm Touring and Camping Site.

Summary of other responses

These are set out in the summary engagement document.

Recommendation

To consult on a proposal to transfer those properties currently in Bix and Assendon parish to Henley-on-Thames parish.

Justification

The identities and interests of the residents, as well as effective and convenient representation at local government level, are best served by locating the whole of Swiss Farm Park Homes in one parish. Swiss Farm Park Homes lies directly adjacent to Henley-on-Thames and effectively forms part of it. It therefore seems logical to transfer those properties currently in Bix and Assendon parish into Henley-on-Thames parish.

As set out above, Henley-on-Thames Town Council propose that the boundary is further extended to include the neighbouring Swiss Farm Touring and Camping Site. Officers consider that such a change is unnecessary and would not address any of the criteria in the terms of reference. The slight change proposed which will move the parish boundary along the road provides a well defined boundary between the parishes and addresses an anomaly whereby close neighbours were in different parish, district ward and county division electoral areas.
